Kennon Road eyed as national heritage zone

BAGUIO City Representative Mark Go has filed two significant bills, which aims to improve Kennon Road and providing scholarships to students of tertiary state universities and colleges and private schools.

In House Bill 5017, Go proposed the declaration of Kennon Road as National Heritage Zone which will become part of the nation’s historical and cultural heritage.

“Kennon Road has been there since 1903, and the people have been utilizing it for more than one hundred (100) years,” he said.

Go added the road has gone through a lot of era and stands the test of time and has transformed into a functional and historic road.

“I believe it is high time that it be recognized as a cultural heritage zone,” added Go.

The proposed measure recommends Kennon Road’s rehabilitation, preservation, conservation and development.

The solon also filed House Bill No. 5015 which provides full scholarship grants to tertiary students enrolled in State Universities and Colleges as well as those in public Technical-Vocational Institutes.

This bill also proposes to grant scholarships to students enrolled in Private Higher Educational Institutions and private Technical- Vocational Institutes.

The bill highlights the proposed improvement in the access of students to tertiary education.

“Undeniably, our country has become exporters of excellent and intelligent minds who contribute to the intellectual well-being of our nation. We should invest in our students. Let us give them the best education that they deserve,” Go said.

“We should always bear in mind that everything we do and whatever we invest in education shall redound to the development of our country,” Go added. (PR)
