ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will investigate the complaint of Councilor Plaridel Nava over questionable purchase of wheel clamps in 2012 filed at the Office of the Ombudsman.

Mabilog’s spokesman Jeffrey Celis said the mayor will create an internal grievance mechanism and investigative procedure to investigate the complaints of Nava against the mayor and other three city officials.

Nava filed charges against Mabilog, senior executive assistant Jess Sio, General Service Office head Joren Sartorio, and City Administrator Norlito Bautista, who are members of the Bids and Awards Committee.

The complainant also involved Pacita Sio Uy, an aunt of Jess Sio and proprietor of Narita Electric Center, and her husband Felix Uy, proprietor of Nippon Engineering Works, who are wheel clamp bidders.

Mabilog ordered the three city officials to explain their participation over the bidding of the alleged overpriced wheel clamps.

Celis said it is the inherent power of the city mayor to discipline persons under him when the integrity of the BAC is at stake.
