Mayor orders spa closure

A SPA located at Kauswagan Highway was ordered closed by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino Jaraula recently.

Jaraula said he ordered for the closure of Duke Spa, situated at Door 3 Lino Chan Bldg., after police authorities confirmed the establishment as an alleged front for prostitution.

“I learned earlier from my fellow golfers that Duke Spa was a good source of relaxation. Customers would choose girls who would supposedly do the massage but can be taken out with the consent of the manager,” Jaraula said.

He said it really made him furious upon learning about the spa’s operation so he ordered for an entrapment operation headed by Police Superintendent Antonio Montalba.

Jaraula said they found out that Duke Spa has no facilities. Instead, customers are asked to choose girls inside an aquarium who can be taken out at a fee of P3,600.

He said all the evidence the entrapment team gathered such as official receipts and photos were being kept to use against the owner.

“I will also investigate City Hall employees for approving the business permit of Duke Spa and for not examining further the operation of the business,” Jaraula said.

Based on initial investigation, the building was rented by a certain Jerry Lastimosa, a resident of Cebu who got a license to operate a spa service. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
