A MESMERIZING weekend morning awaits Kapuso viewers this Saturday, June 7, as Isyu Mindanao goes back in time with a visit to some of the popular and historically significant tourist destinations in the Caraga region in Mindanao.

Know more about the region’s heritage and culture as multi-awarded host John Paul Seniel explores the Banza Church Ruins in Lilo, Barangay Banza, Butuan City.

Built in 1625 by the Recollect Priests and reduced to ashes in 1753 by Moro Pirates, the Banza Church Ruins is said to be the oldest ruin of a stone church in the entire island of Mindanao.

Seniel also gets to visit the country’s oldest tree, the Bitaog Tree in Barangay Caloc-an, Magallanes, Agusan del Sur.

Approximately 500 years old with a diameter of 290 cm, the Bitaog Tree was officially declared as the Philippine Centennial Tree by the Philippine Centennial Commission in 1998.

All these and more in Isyu Mindanao this Saturday, airing at 7 a.m. on GMA Channel 8 in GenSan, GMA Channels 12 and 35 in Northern Mindanao, and GMA Channel 5 in Southern Mindanao.
