THE Office of Civil Registrar will not charge any fees to 73 marrying couples participating in the mass wedding rites on Monday as part of the 73rd year of the Iloilo City Charter celebration.

Councilor Perla Zulueta, chair of the committee on appropriations and ways and means led the enactment of an ordinance last Wednesday exempting the payment of three regular fees amounting P325 or a total of P23,725 for the indigent couple beneficiaries as a gift of the City Government to the marrying couples.

Local Civil Registrar Romeo Juncae Manikan had requested for fees exemption upon early approval of Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. The mayor will lead in the solemnization of marriage vows of the 73 indigent couples.

The mass wedding, also supported by the city population office, will be held at the Robinsons Foodcourt starting at 8:30 in the morning. (Lydia C. Pendon)
