‘No sacred cows in BCPO’

John Paul V. Pepito

BACOLOD City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge Celestino Guara said Wednesday that “there are no sacred cows in the Bacolod City Police Office.”

This reaction came after a former BCPO officer was nabbed last week after a robbery hold-up complaint was filed against him.

Guara said police officer Rodel Gelbore, 33, of Reclamation Area, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, is now facing charges of illegal possession of firearm, aside from the robbery case against him.

The case was filed Tuesday afternoon before the Office of the Prosecutor, Bacolod City and additional charges will be filed against him after the identification of the owner of the items that were recovered from his possession during the apprehension last week.

Gelbore was nabbed in follow-up operations by elements of Police Station 2 led by Police Inspector Jeffrey Attunaga last week.

The police recovered one Armscor .38 caliber revolver with three live ammos and one set of billiard balls from the suspect who is still detained at Police Station 2.

Guara believes that Gelbore was also involved in several robbery hold-up cases in the city, stressing that Gelbore was a drug user.

He said Gelbore was also facing several complaints from his colleagues when he was still in the service.

Guara added that Gelbore was formerly assigned at Public Safety Management Company as Detach Service of BCPO, and he went "AWOL" after he took the CPU of a computer at the BCPO.

“We need to protect the name of our organization, and we will not allow it to be destroyed by undisciplined police officers here in the city,” Guara stressed.
