NORTHERN Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands and Southern Occidental Mindoro were placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 as Tropical Depression Ramil slightly intensified Wednesday afternoon, November 1.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said residents in areas under Signal No. 1 as well as over Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley Region and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo island are alerted against possible landslides and flash floods.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, the center of the tropical depression was located at 25 kilometers (km) south of Coron, Palawan, according to Pagasa.

Ramil has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph.

Pagasa said the tropical cyclone is moving west at 18 kph and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday night or early Friday morning.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with possible occasional heavy rains during thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are expected, Pagasa added. (DDA/SunStar Philippines)
