THE Philippine National Police (PNP) assured its support to the events of the ongoing Panagbenga Festival 2010.

Police Regional Director Orlando Pestaño said additional police officers have been detailed in the city as per request of the Baguio City Police Office.

“We are very supportive as far as Panagbenga is concerned,” Pestaño said.

He added that the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-Cor) has granted all the requests of the city police regarding the Panagbenga revelry.

Pestaño said any additional request will be entertained by the regional office.

Meanwhile, Pestaño bared the regional office’s accomplishments last year.

He said PNP has recruited additional 221 new police officers.

Pestaño said PNP operations also resulted to an arrest of a top rebel group leader in Abra and destroyed marijuana plantations worth over P800 million.

Pestaño said the PRO-Cor’s disaster management has also been praised by the National Disaster Coordinating Council. (Visha Calventas)
