Priest emphasizes Holy Week reflection

John Roger "Darlah" Orquiza

A RECTOR of San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City is reminding the Catholic faithful to put God first in observance of the Holy Week starting with the Palm Sunday on April 9.

“I would like to remind everyone to bring their family together to the church first before going on vacation for family bonding,” Father Felix Pasquin said.

The Cathedral conducted a Lenten reflection for the members of the media last April 1, and for about 120 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) under Police Regional Office-Western Visayas Thursday.

The Lenten reflections were held at the Vianney Hall of the San Sebastian Cathedral.

“This has been a tradition to conduct Lenten reflections for busy people like the members of the media and the PNP,” Pasquin said.

He added that the San Sebastian Cathedral is ready for processions to be held on Maundy Thursday, and visitations after the Taltal (Crucifixion) on Good Friday. The Holy Week ends on Easter Sunday.

Pasquin reminded everyone that blessed palm fronds on Palm Sunday which are considered sacred should not be for sale.

Abstinence from eating meat products during Holy Week should also be observed, he added.
