ILOILO City Government awarded a Deed of Usufruct of 99 years to relocates of the Iloilo River Plains Subdivision Phase I in barangays Lanit and Camalig in Jaro district in the City.

In an open session on August 2, 2016, City Councilor Eduardo Penaredondo said the 1,000 families at the site will continue on living in their awarded house and lot for free of charge and the usufruct contract was not sold.

The beneficiaries will temporarily use the houses awarded by the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office but will have to pay the required taxes by law on their house and lot and facilities.

Modifications will be allowed along with a written consent from the City Government and any violations of the conditions will result to contract cancellation in favor of the city.

A City Council resolution was passed authorizing City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to sign and accept the Deed of Usufruct by and between the relocatees of the city government’s subdivision.

Also, the resolution stated beneficiaries shall adhere to the rules, guidelines and legal order the city may promulgate.
