THE Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) Bulldogs secured a finals berth after humbling heavy favorite Davao City National High School (DCNHS), 90-70, in the semifinals of the Davao Pride Basketball League (DPBL) held at the newly-refurbished RMC Fil Oil Flying V Arena over the weekend.

Elmarc Subingsubing and Jack Into paced the Bulldogs with identical 16 points.

Clerrudel Noya, meanwhile, blocked shots and grabbed rebounds that helped the Bulldogs build up their huge lead from half.

Head coach Prince Macavinta, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said they relied on their defense and stuck with their game plan.

"Nag-adjust din kami sa defense and determined yung mga bata manalo," the neophyte coach said.

He, however, quoted that the finals can be "everybody's ball game".

But he assured that their defense will be their weapon when they face Bernardo Carpio National High School Sandstroms, the one team who beat them in the eliminations, in the finals set on November 18.

The Sandstorms, meanwhile, defeated Cabantian National High School, 89-76, in the other semifinals match.
