Sufficient water supply assured

WATER supply in the city will be enough despite the expected influx of tourist this Panagbenga weekend.

Despite the expected tourist influx for the anticipated Grand Street Parade and the famed Float Parade this weekend, BWD is confident it can provide enough supply for the city.

BWD Division Chief for Construction and Maintenance Engr. Edmund Q. Llanes said consumers will face less water supply difficulties this year.

According to Llanes, the commissioned operation of two additional deep wells located at Lucban Elementary School and Barangay Teodora Alonzo will help augment the occasional water shortage experienced particularly during the Panagbenga month.

The two deep wells boosted the District’s supply with an additional more or less 2,000 cubic meters of water per day.

Apart from the commissioned deep wells, the District said it will maximize the operation of its delivery trucks which will back up the distribution of water.

Llanes added the steady amount of rainfall experienced from December helped recharge the spring water sources of the BWD namely Buyog, Camp 8, Amliang, Stage 1, and Sto. Tomas.

Meanwhile, the District also stated it has already prepared a contingency plan for their water distributions come summer season.

The BWD at present has 67 pumping stations, 59 deep wells and five spring sources where it gets the supply of water rationed to residential homes, business establishments and government facilities.

Apart from citing the assurance of having enough water supply, the District under the leadership of General Manager Engr. Salvador M. Royeca calls on all tourists and residents alike to conserve water and help in the preservation of the watersheds and other water sources. (Mark Victor Pasagoy with Mitch Garganta/UP Baguio intern)
