SWU to debut high school squad in Cesafi

THE Southwestern University Baby Cobras will make their debut in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball when it opens on Aug. 1.

Since they returned into the fold of the league in 2006, SWU did not have a high school team without offering any explanation on why they opted not to field a junior basketball team.

Now that the school is under a new management, SWU decided to bring back the high school squad, which will hopefully give its high school students a chance to showcase their wares in the premier basketball tournament in the south.

The SWU Baby Cobras disbanded along with its college team after the inaugural season of Cesafi in 2001.

It came as a surprise as the team was was winning titles in the previous organization, the Cebu Amateur Athletic Association when the team folded up.

With the inclusion of the Baby Cobras into the competition, Cesafi now has 10 high school teams along with the defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, the University of the Visayas Green Lancers, the University of San Carlos Baby Warriors, the University of Cebu Baby Webmasters, the Cebu Eastern University Dragons, University of Southern Philippines Foundation Baby Panthers, Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildkittens, University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars and the
