THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a low pressure area (LPA) intensified into tropical depression “Florita” as of Friday afternoon.

The weather bureau estimated Florita at 330 kilometer (km) west of Dagupan City with maximum winds of 55 kilometer per hour (kph).

The tropical depression is moving northwest at 11 kph and is forecasted to be in Laoag City by Saturday afternoon.

As of Friday, the weather bureau has not raised any public storm signals.

Another LPA was also spotted 770 km of Northeast of Basco Batanes.

These weather disturbances are expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and will bring occasional to frequent rains over Luzon and Visayas particularly the western section, which may trigger flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, Pagasa is reminding residents in affected areas to take all the necessary precautionary measures. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
