Weather bureau warns public on heat wave (3:04 p.m.)

MANILA -- The possibility of a heat wave hitting the country is not a far-off reality during this El Niño phenomenon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa spokesman Nathaniel Cruz said that while the weather bureau is not saying that a heat wave will definitely strike the country, the possibility still remains.

“The temperature does not have to be that high to say that we have a heat wave. If we experience temperature that is two degrees Celsius higher than the normal heat, (that could be considered as heat wave),” Cruz said. (Angela Casauay/Sunnex)
