CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said Monday, August 20, that 166 barangays are still under water.

Some 25 barangays in Macabebe town are still flooded. Apalit town reported three flooded barangays along with 21 flooded villages in Masantol town. There are also five flooded barangays in Minalin, nine in San Simon, seven in Guagua, 26 in Lubao, three in the City of San Fernando, and six San Luis town.

Around 409,367 people or 107,404 families are still affected by flooding. Some 1,439 families are still in evacuation centers all over Pampanga.

Initial damage assessment by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist placed the damage to rice crops at P79,748,609.78 and corn at P42,756 as of August 17.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office reported that it had distributed some 6,608 food packs to heavily flooded barangays of San Simon amounting to P2,859,942.40.

Declarations of state of calamity had been in effect in Masantol, Macabebe, San Simon, San Luis, Sasmuan, Santo Tomas, Guagua and Minalin.

Placing a town or city under a state of calamity allows the local government units to access their calamity funds. Price control for basic necessities and prime commodities is also implemented.

PDRRMO officer Angie Blanco said continuous monitoring is still being conducted in all 21 municipalities and cities of Pampanga as the monsoon rains continue.
