3,495 adult residents of Mabalacat still unvaxxed

Reynaldo G. Navales

MABALACAT City still has 3,495 unvaccinated residents aged 18 years old and above.

This was disclosed on Tuesday, March 29, by Dr. Jay Rivera, the city's Covid-19 response chief.

"Humigit kumulang 3,495 na mga residente edad 18 pataas ang hindi pa nababakunahan," he said.

Of this figure, only 2,000 residents are willing to be vaccinated, according to Rivera.

The official said that some 8,885 children with ages 5 to 17 remained unvaccinated.

"Nasa mahigit 3,000 ang ating dapat bakunahan dito sa lungsod ng Mabalacat," Rivera said.

The City Government has initiated a program where Top 8 barangays will be saturated by the local government's vaccination team, he added.

"Kami po ay gagawa ulit ng barangayan, first second dose program simula April 4 hanggan April 8," Rivera said.

"Dito po ay susubukan nating bakunahan ang ating mga residente sa kanilang barangay kung sila po ay bed-ridden," he added.

This is part of the City Government's effort, under Garbo and Aquino's directive, to give all Mabalacat residents opportunity to get vaxxed, Rivera said.

The local government recently completed a 10-day booster program in the city's 27 barangays.

Some 3,000 residents received booster shots during the period.

Rivera thanked the village leaders and barangay health workers for assisting in the vaccination drive of the city government.

"Sila po ang ating mga heroes. Sila po ang ating kasama upang maging ganap ang ating booster program na ito under the directive ng ating butiing mayor, Cris Garbo at Vice Mayor Geld Aquino," he said.
