THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Central Luzon recently dispersed fish fingerlings in the waters off Minalin town, Pampanga.

A total of 40,000 fingerlings of tilapia were released by BFAR-Central Luzon as part of its Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa project.

BFAR-Central Luzon Director Wilfredo Cruz said the project is part of the national government's program to ensure food security and boost fishermen's production and income by reinvigorating the river.

Mayor Edgar Flores, meanwhile, said the fingerlings were dispersed at the portion of Pampanga River in Sta Catalina-San Francisco 1 and Sunset Park.

Flores also expressed gratitude to BFAR-Central Luzon for granting his request of fingerlings assistance to aid fishermen who were affected by the effects of typhoon and the ongoing pandemic.
