Central Luzon logs 90,494 Covid-19 cases, 2,133 deaths

THE number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Central Luzon has reached 90,494 since the start of the pandemic, leaving 2,133 dead, according to the latest data from the Department of Health (DOH).

Of the total number, 80,523 have since recovered, while 7,838 are still active cases.

Provinces with the most number of active cases include Bulacan with 40,424, Pampanga with 17,377, Nueva Ecija with 8,650, Bataan with 6,662 and Tarlac with 6,296.

The region has recorded more than 11,000 cases in the last 14 days, contributing to the country’s cumulative positivity rate of 10.2 percent.

Of the 176 health facilities in the region, bed occupancy is currently at 57.2 percent with 2,478 beds occupied, while some 1,875 remain vacant.

On the number of deaths, Bulacan remains the highest with 801 cases, followed by Pampanga with 543 deaths. Nueva Ecija province has the third highest number of deaths at 234 cases, followed by Bataan with 153 cases and Angeles City with 150.

In the last 14 days, 208 deaths were recorded in the region. Pampanga has recorded the highest number of deaths in the last 14 days with 51 cases.
