CL police arrest 420 in week-long anti-crime drive

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---The anti-crime drive conducted by the Central Luzon police on June 12 to June 18 resulted to the arrest of hundreds of suspects wanted for various violations, millions worth of illegal drugs, gambling bets and firearms.

Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo, Jr., director of the Central Luzon police, said the anti-ciminality campaign resulted to the arrest of 420 suspects, 137 of whom have warrants of arrest for murder, rape, and frustrated murder.

Some 149 suspects were arrested for illegal drugs; 114 for illegal gambling; 15 for illegal possession of firearms; and five for violation of other "special laws."

Seized during the week-long drive were 9,435.53 grams of shabu and marijuana worth some P3,404,986.40 and P63,591.00 cash bets from alleged illegal gambling operations.

Some 62 assorted firearms were confiscated during numerous police operations.

Hidalgo said the successful anti-crime drive is "a result of timely coordination, intelligence-driven operations of different police units, and strong support of local officials as well as those in the private sector Central Luzon."
