Cops launch probe on village chief slay

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO A thorough investigation on the killing of a Barangay Sto. Rosario, City of San Fernando Chairman Jesus Liang has been launched by police.

Liang was shot dead by a lone gunman on Tuesday evening while he was walking along the City Market Plaza here.

Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen, Police Regional Office III director, said all possible angles will be looked into to establish the possible motive behind the killing.

“We are exerting all means to get into the bottom of this unfortunate incident and we are now gathering pieces of evidence that will lead us to the identification of the culprit,” Pasiwen said

He added that Liang’s case will be treated as top priority as he was a public official.

Pasiwen urged anybody who witness or have information on the suspect to coordinate with the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Mayor Vilma Caluag of this city condemned the violent act committed against Liang.

She assured the Liang’s family that the city police will work harder to bring justice on the death of the village chief.

“Makakaasa po kayo na ating tututukan ang imbestigasyon at trabaho ng ating kapulisan upang agarang ma-resolba at maparusahan ang mga kriminal na nasa likod ng walang awang pamamaslang,” she said.
