A COUNCILOR of Angeles City is pushing for the establishment of a "security booth" at the Clark International Airport (CRK) to monitor the entry of foreign national especially those coming from Covid 19-affected countries.

Councilor Jesus Sangil, chairman of the City Council committee on special economic zone, said the council passed on Tuesday, March 10, a resolution to this effect.

He said this came after Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. issued a restriction order against foreign nationals in the wake of the Covid-19 cases in the country.

Sangil said he recommended to Lazatin the booth system at the Clark airport.

He also urged Clark airport officials to study the possible setting up of the inspection booth to be put alongside the immigration and customs area.

"After the immigration and customs area, last inspection booth is the City of Angeles booth with our health workers checking arriving foreign visitors from highly Covid-19-infected countries," Sangil said.

He said the booth manned by city health workers and policemen will monitor the temperature of foreign nationals from China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Italy, and other countries where the coronavirus cases are high.

In line with the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines, the City Government will recommend a 14-day quarantine for sick passengers at the New Clark City, Sangil said.

The councilor said the airport is an strategic area to control the movement of arriving foreign nationals. "Dito ang major bulk ng mga foreigners and passengers maski ang mga kapwa natin Pilipino na galing sa abroad lalo na sa China, Korea among others virus-infected countries."

Sangil said expressway tollgates in the city may also be used in monitoring the entry of foreigners and passengers who landed in other airports in the country.

"Mas okay po yung masabihan na overkill kaysa ma-caught off guard at malagay sa peligro ang kalusugan ng ating mga kababayang Angelenos," he said.
