SQUASH farmers from Zaragoza in Nueva Ecija were able to linkup with buyers in Central Luzon amid the ongoing quarantine efforts in the region.

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III, through Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, assisted the Nueva Ecija farmers through market linkages between them and buyers in Central Luzon.

This activity started on May which aims to help farmer-producers in selling their crops directly to the consumers amid the difficulty in global food systems during this Covid-19 Pandemic.

As a result of DA Central Luzon’s initiative, the total earned value of the farmers and suppliers successfully reached P432,190 with a volume of 125.1 metric tons.

Moreover, a total of P111,500 truck rental was shouldered by the Department.
