Exposure to patients still top source of coronavirus infection

EXPOSURE to other patients who first tested positive for the coronavirus remains the top source of infection in the City of San Fernando, the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (Cesu) reported.

Out of the total 1,877 Covid-19 cases logged in the fourth week of September, Cesu noted that 644 of which were identified as close contacts of patients.

Meanwhile, 506 individuals contracted the disease due to work exposure, while the source of infection of 455 persons remained unknown.

Also, 107 patients reported a history of travel outside the city which may have caused their infection, while 75 persons were identified as healthcare workers.

The Cesu also noted that they were still identifying the source of infection of 45 patients, while the other 45 patients were tagged as frontliners.

As of September 26, the total number of confirmed cases in the city has reached 10,362, of which 1,958 were active, 8,126 have recovered and 278 fatalities.
