CITY OF SAN FERNANDO A 232.54-lineal meter concrete slope protection on the banks of the Pasig-Potrero River in Barangay Manuali in Porac has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The P29.3 million flood control structure, according to DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineer Gregorio Audea, Jr., consists steel sheet pile foundation with reinforced concrete pile cap designed to prevent flooding and soil erosion in areas near the Pasig-Potrero River.

The waterway is heavily silted after becoming a channel of Pinatubo lahar deposits.

“It diverts the flow of river water away from the community, thus preventing further scouring of the river banks,” he said.

“The project is necessary to ensure the safety of Manuali residents and protect their properties," Audea added.

The flood control structure was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
