CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- As the New Year celebration approaches, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Central Luzon released the list of the firecrackers that are prohibited for use by the public.

This includes Watusi, Piccolo, Super Lolo, Atomic Triangle, Large Judas Belt, Large Bawang, Pillbox, Boga and Goodbye Philippines.

Also banned for public use are Bin Laden, Mother Rocket, Lolo Thunder, Coke-in-Can, Atomic Bomb, Firestar, Pla-pla, Giant Whistle Bomb and Kabasi firecrackers.

Any firecracker weighing more than 0.2 grams or have fuses that would burn in less than three seconds, as well as unlabeled and imported pyrotechnics are considered illegal.

Those who will be caught manufacturing, selling, distributing or using prohibited firecrackers may be fined between P20,000 and P30,000 and/or face imprisonment up to one year, the DILG-Central Luzon said.

Instead of using dangerous firecrackers, the agency advised the public to watch community fireworks displays or use household items for merry making in welcoming the New Year.
