OFFICIALS of Magalang have asked the residents to cooperate with the local government to keep this agricultural town free from coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

As of Wednesday, June 3, the town has no active Covid-19 cases, the local government posted in its official Facebook account.

"Kailangan po ang inyong kooperasyon para mapanatili nating Covid-19-free ang ating bayan at upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng Covid-19," the Municipality of Magalang stated.

The local government unit also reminded its constituents that the fight against the dreaded virus is not yet over as Luzon shifted to general community quarantine (GCQ).

"Mayroon tayong 0 confirmed cases, 45 persons under monitoring (PUMs) at two suspected cases sa kasalukuyan. Sa pagpapatupad ng GCQ, huwag po sana tayong magpakakampante dahil hindi pa po tapos ang laban natin sa Covid-19," the local government said.

It cited safety protocols, including social distancing, wearing of face mask, and washing of hands, among others.

"Manatili sa bahay kung hindi kinakailangan lumabas, masuot ng face mask kung kinakailangan lumabas ng bahay, laging gawin ang physical distancing, ugaliing maghugas ng kamay at mag sanitize," the LGU told the residents.

Mayor Romulo Pecson recently met with other local officials and discussed the implementation and enforcement of GCQ guidelines.

The local IATF decided to allow residents from other nearby areas to buy food, medicines and other essential products from groceries and drug stores in the town.

Public utility vehicles will also be allowed to operate with minimum capacity.
