Masantol town gets new garbage truck

TO STRENGTHEN solid waste management, the municipal government of Masantol recently procured an additional dump truck to be utilized for garbage collection.

Mayor Danilo Guintu said the local government allocated P1.65 million from the solid waste management budget for the procurement of the new dump truck.

The mayor said the new vehicle would aid the weekly collection of waste from households in the town, as well as in the public market and business establishments.

“The new garbage truck will be a reinforcement to the existing garbage trucks in town which are regularly deployed to roam around each barangays on a weekly schedule basis to collect wastes,” Guintu said.

Guintu said the purchase of the new garbage truck will allow the local government to efficiently collect garbages, including those in the riverside, in accordance to R.A. 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

“This is part of our agenda to make Masantol a clean and green municipality that is liveable to every Masantoleño of all ages. With the better collection of garbages, especially in the residential areas along the riverside, we also hopeful to reduce the extremity of flood occurrence in town,” he added.
