MASANTOL -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Central Luzon recently distributed over 110,000 fish fingerlings to fisherfolk of this town.

A total of 80,000 tilapia and fingerlings and 30,000 bangus fingerlings were turned over to beneficiaries to be dispersed to their respective fishponds.

The activity, which is under the Department of Agriculture's "Ahon Lahat, Pagkain Sapat" program, is aimed at assisting fishermen who were affected by the crisis brought about by Covid-19, according to BFAR-Central Luzon Director Wilfredo Cruz.

He added that the activity is also part of the National Government's program that ensures food stability through local produce across the country.

Mayor Danilo Guintu, for his part, expressed gratitude to BFAR for their continuous assistance to Masantoleño fisherfolk despite the threat of coronavirus infection.

He also asked fishermen in the town to nurture the fingerlings so it can easily be harvested and be turned into income in due time.
