CITY of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago cited the role of media in successful community and nation building.

During the Media Strategy Sharing and Fellowship at the Heroes Hall here on Tuesday, December 17, Santiago said media people are responsible for the quick dissemination of factual information to the people.

“Through your hard work, the government is able to inform our constituents and the whole world of current happenings in the city, as well as the programs and projects we are implementing,” he said.

In this times when information is easily-available over social media, Santiago said journalists also serve as fact-checkers of the legitimate news information.

He expressed gratitude to Pampanga-based mediamen for taking the job of delivering the right and truthful news everyday.

“Just like us, you are public servants so thank you for your service to Fernandinos and Kapampangans, and the Filipino people,” Santiago said.

He added that media outfits help in uplifting the lives of people and help the government in disseminating much needed information every time and in every situation.

“Just like we cover and look after all sectors in governance, media is one vital sector worthy of its role and the City of San Fernando thanks you for that,” Santiago said.
