ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has started providing medical and financial aid to senior citizens aged 90 to 99 years old in 33 barangays around the city.

Some 356 senior citizens are set to receive cash worth P2,000 each, and a free medical checkup. Free medicines will also be provided for the beneficiaries.

Lazatin began his house-to-house visit of senior citizens last January 26, 2020. With Lazatin were personnel from the City Health Office, Gender and Development Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, and City Information Office.

Upon the start of the house-to-house visits, Lazatin had already visited and provided assistance to seniors from Barangays Claro M. Recto, Pampang, Amsic, San Nicolas, Lourdes North West, Lourdes Sur, Agapito Del Rosario, and Lourdes Sur East.

Lazatin said he will go to every senior's house assuring they will receive assistance from the City Government.

This follows Lazatin's P10 million budget for the social pension of the elderly and of the persons with disabilities, and P3 million for solo parents. (PR)
