CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The 26th National Inventors Week Celebration (NIW) is set to be held at Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in the Science City of Muñoz in the province of Nueva Ecija from November 18 to 21.

The event is spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Central Luzon through the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (Tapi), DOST Provincial Science and Technology Center and in collaboration with the Philippine Inventors Society and the Filipino Inventors Society Producers Cooperative (FISPC).

Other partners include the local government of Muñoz and the Central Luzon State University.

The four-day event will feature and highlight technology and invention exhibits, training and workshop on entrepreneurship and financial management, and training on scientific writing, among others.

The activities are mandated under Presidential Proclamation 285 of 1993, which encourages participants to showcase unique and marketable inventions of Filipinos for Filipinos.

The event will run along the 2019 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (Rice).

DOST-Central Luzon is calling on public and private sector inventors, as well as college and high students to join in this year's contest.

Rice is a regional competition that started in 2011. The competition was divided into invention category (Tuklas), utility model category, industrial design category, and creative research category.

The contest also gives opportunity for students to participate through the student creative research categories for high school and college.
