PAMPANGA Vice Governor Lilia Pineda urged village officials to help monitor possible cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in their respective areas.

Pineda asked officials to keep track of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returning home from countries with confirmed cases. She also directed local barangay health workers (BHWs) to keep track of local residents with flu-like symptoms in order to prevent the spread of the said virus.

The vice-governor made this plea during the “Talakayan: Talastasan sa Kalusugan, Kaunlaran, at Kapayapaan” attended by village captains across the province on Tuesday, February 11, at the Asean Convention Center in Clark Freeport.

Pineda ordered the village captains to team up with BHWs in monitoring the symptomatic individuals with travel history outside the country, and repatriated OFWs to prevent the progression of the virus.

Last week, over a hundred doctors and other health care professionals have been briefed on the protocols and response procedures in handling suspected or confirmed cases of the Covid-19.

The doctors and health care professionals underwent training after Vice Governor Pineda asked the Provincial Health Office with the help from Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and Department of Health to properly train the group of doctors and medical workers who will serve as frontline personnel as the need arises.
