THE Bureau of Internal Revenue-Revenue Region 4 (BIR-RR4) in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga urged all persons doing business and earning income through digital means in Central Luzon to register with their respective revenue district offices.

BIR-RR4 Regional Director Douglas Rufino told SunStar Pampanga that the region has been making headway in encouraging online businesses to register.

To date, there are 1,060 online businesses registered with RR4.

Some 300 of these online businesses are from Revenue District Office No. 21B, which covers South Pampanga.

Some 244 of these online businesses are from Revenue District Office No. 17A in Tarlac City.

Rufino said that some nine Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators from Tarlac, Olongapo, and Subic Bay Freeport have registered with RR4.

He added that 11 service providers online are now registered, according to the BIR data.

The BIR likewise encouraged online businesses to declare and pay the corresponding taxes on past taxable transactions, without penalty, if declaration and payment are made on or before the said date.

Rufino said BIR is now working on means to streamline tax collection efforts on digital transactions.
