A RETRENCHED business process outsourcing manager received his final pay worth almost P500,000 through the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) Single Entry Approach mechanism or SEnA.

Citing a report of DOLE Clark Satellite Office, Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita said the claim was settled within 24 hours.

"Normally, through SEnA, the two parties meet in person for the settlement of the labor dispute. But because we are in these extraordinary times, our office devised a way to still be able to assist the complainants by arranging conferences through the use of our online platforms," Campita said.

The BPO manager was displaced in June due to the redundancy of his position.

He said his former company already breached the standard of 30 days to release his last pay, so he decided to reach out to DOLE.

DOLE Clark immediately took action to his request and hastened up settlement through SEnA Desk Officer Jerwin Bargas, and DOLE Clark head Jose Roberto Navata.

The retrenched BPO manager expressed his gratitude to DOLE Clark for their swift action to his request.

Based on Labor Advisory 6, s. 2020, employers are mandated to release the final pay of an employee within 30 days from the date of separation or termination of employment.

Moreover, as per recently issued Department Order 214, s. 2020, the interruption of the prescriptive periods for the commencement of actions, claims, petitions, complaints, processes, and other proceedings is lifted, except in areas under ECQ, MECQ or hard/total lockdown. With the issued department order, conferences and other proceedings shall be conducted through the use of digital platforms, if available to all parties.
