THE Provincial Government of Pampanga headed by Governor Dennis Pineda received P100 million from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) led by Secretary Silvestre Bello III for the salaries of the "Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers" (Tupad) program beneficiaries in the province.

This is part of the employment program of the DOLE in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga. The turnover of the check was held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in the City of San Fernando over the weekend.

The event was attended by provincial government officials and Tubad beneficiaries from all over Pampanga.

Some 20,624 Kapampangans from all over Pampanga have been covered under the Tupad program.

The basis for the selection was based on the beneficiaries’ economic background and the town from which they came.

Tupad is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and unemployed indigents.

Under the program, each beneficiary is hired to work for a minimum of 10 days with a daily pay based on the prevailing minimum wage.

Each will be provided protective clothing and headgear and enrolled for insurance coverage with the Government Service Insurance System covering the entire duration of their work program.

Tupad is a DOLE program that provides temporary employment to displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers.

The work of such beneficiaries under the Tupad program will revolve around social, economic, and agroforestry community projects.
