THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Luzon (PDEA-3), through the support of the Pampanga Provincial Peace and Order and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (POC-ADAC), hopes to scale up its anti-illegal drugs operations by having a dedicated office at Clark International Airport.

In the latest Joint POC-ADAC Meeting chaired by Governor Lilia G. Pineda, the council passed a resolution seeking the assistance of Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade to provide the agency an office space at the airport to effectively monitor the entry of contraband and illegal drugs in the country.

“We need to be aware and alert on all possible entry points of illegal drugs so we can eradicate and stop its proliferation. Here in Pampanga, we have Clark International Airport which we must guard and monitor that is why I would like PDEA to be here,” Governor Pineda said.

In a letter from Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) dated January 25, 2019, it was stated that the officials of PDEA and the former had already met and talked about the suggested location for the office. The two parties just need to agree on the exact location and requirements to be able to work on the request.

With the establishment of an office specially dedicated to PDEA, the agency is hopeful that it will help them in strengthening their operations to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country. (PR)
