IT was the first ever State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand "Bong Bong" Marcos, Jr. that was held recently at the lower chamber of Congress recently. As usual are the various VIPs who flashed their OOTDs (outfit of the day) just like in the Oscars or Grammy Awards night.

Not much were impressed with the President's speech. Others say there was not much applaudable. While the allied groups were praising him, some opposition were criticizing.

Its a given fact that the President assumed his office barely a month ago. The critics should have considered that the mandate of the President is still fresh and in fact it was still under the honeymoon period. They should consider the timing of their tirades as the said leader has just assumed his throne.

Listening to the speech, we have to accept the fact that it will be full of promises as the President is yet to fulfill all those in the coming years of the presidency. He is yet to work for his promised programs.

One thing laudable in the recent SONA is the promise of the President to continue what his predecessor had done in the last six years. While he has his own style of leadership, he has vowed to pursue and complete the projects of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The recent earth shaker is a wake up call for all on the readiness that we have in case such natural occurence. See Abra and its neighboring provinces that were directly hit by the earthquake that left casualties and yet-to-be determined amount of damage.

The question now is whether we are ready for the big one or otherwise. We are again reminded of any possibility that may happen. God forbid.

Rehabilitation efforts are on its way now after the devastation. Badly hit were old churches and historical places.
