Pangan: joint inspection team

Benjie Pangan

BUSINESSES in Mabalacat City must be aware of the Joint Inspection Team created by Executive Order (EO) No. 50-A, series of June 2020, issued by City Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo.

In its preliminary paragraphs, the said EO states that the Local Government Code mandates the local government units "should pursue undertakings that would enhance the general welfare of their constituents and that the Anti-Red Tape Act aims to prevent graft and corruption in government".

The same EO proceeded to enumerate the issuances of different government agencies like the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in pursuit of President Duterte's directive to reduce the requirements and processing time in all government transactions.

EO No. 50-A expanded the composition of the Mabalacat City government Joint Inspection Team to mitigate the transmission of Covid-19 disease. This time, it included the Department of Tourism (DOT), in coordination with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. The DOT issues guidelines on the operation of hotels and other accommodation establishments as well as tourist land transport services.

The same EO cited Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01 issued by the DILG, DTI and DICT in compliance with President Duterte's directive to all government agencies to reduce the requirements and processing time for all government transactions.

It also mandates that the City, in cooperation with concerned national agencies including the Bureau of Fire Protection, organize and create Joint Inspection Teams to conduct inspections relative to pre and post business permit registration process.

The Joint Inspection Team of Mabalacat City is chaired by Rosanno S. Paquia, the Chief of Staff and head of the City Planning and Development Office and is assisted by a composite team of department and unit heads of the city hall.

I find comfort and ease in encashing my checks with Bank of PI Dau Branch's TIN SANTOS, a teller and PJ ANTONIO, likewise a teller at the Banco de Oro Dau Branch. They are both courteous and accommodating and with ready smiles. They patiently assist seniors like me and in filling out the details of the checks they are processing.
