Tulabut: The report card

Noel G. Tulabut

GRIN -- refers to smiles that are almost patented to him. Green -- is the true color, one that he has inherited from his dad. This, despite a sea of red where there is almost sure victory.

But comeback kid Edu Pamintuan is definitely not green anymore with what he has contributed to the progress of Angeles City. A look at one of his FB post says it all. One may find his so-called “Report Card” worthy of a second look.

Foremost of which is his lead role in having the Angeles City College (ACC). He was the main author of a Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) measure that made sure that Angelenos will be having its own community college. Today, ACC has not just produces graduates but alumni who excel in their chosen field. Alumni whom the city can be proud of. Just recently, it has a 100 percent passing rate in the licensure exams for teachers. Rebilyn Garcia Roman landed as Top 2 in the licensure exams for Librarian. (Take a bow there ACC President Frankie Villanueva).

Personally, I did not have Edu to take the peg of an advocate for Education. Much more add Arts, Culture and Heritage tuck to his belt. He is said to be carefree and just “another son of a politician” as people would remark of him. That context, by the way, should not be taken with offense. After all, kung ano ang puno, siya ang bunga (what the tree is, so is its fruit). In this case, we are talking of no less than Atty. Edgardo “Edpam” Pamintuan, one of the former legendary mayors who led Angeles City to greater progress.

Edu more than proved that he is just another kid of a politician. He has had many authorships. He has also chiefly penned some critical measures on Environment such as ordinances on water quality and septage management system, the creation of City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and even an Environment Code that put rationalizes and unifies various local laws on the subject.

What I see on his FB account where he flexes muscles and good looks, he has applied in his nine-year stint as City Councilor. So, hindi lamang pa pogi si Edu. Hindi lamang sya anak ng isang politko. Let us give it to him folks, Edu is his own man. Edu deserves to get back his rightful seat in the City Council (along with Jay Sangil and Alex Indiongco who also has a track record of having the most number of authored SP measures, whether as lead or support).

Quite a few significant measures, whether ordinances or resolutions, in the SP are credited to Edu. These are but some of them:

Anti-Muffler Modification, Regulation in the use of Videoke Machines, Inspection/Checking of Electronic Gaming Establishments, Road Repairs and Check on malfunctioning traffic lights along major thoroughfares. To name a few.

Edu’s so-called Report Card bears with it more than just passing grades. He has worked, he has delivered, and he has excelled.

UNDER THE SUN. A large umbrella shields students from the heat as they go home riding a bike with sidecar from Buenlag Central School in Calasiao, Pangasinan on Thursday (April 25, 2024). Pangasinan has been posting over 40 degrees Celsius heat index since a few weeks ago, and local government officials have implemented various measures to lessen the impact of the high heat index to the students.
