Kapampangans shine in world arnis tilt

PROUD world-class arnisador Kapampangans won eight gold medals, four silver medals, and one bronze medal in the recently concluded Presas Arnis Legacy 1st World Arnis Virtual Anyo and Skills Competition.

Themed "The Flow Must Continue," the tournament was broadcast live on Facebook on February 6, 13, and 20, 2022 and had 300 participants from 16 countries.

Guro Roderick Von Elman served as the playing coach for the Kalasag Salaknib Martial Arts System, which is a duly recognized member of the International Modern Arnis Federation of the Philippines (IMAFP).

Despite having a heart condition, Von Elman was able to compete and win five gold medals in the games Creative Form Sword and Dagger, Standard Form Abaniko, Standard Form Punyo, Standard Second Form, and Skill Cane Combative.

His students who won medals included his son Roderick Von T. Elman, with three golds and three silvers, Raekim Chen Bangayan, who won one silver, Charles Darwin Tiglao, who won one bronze, and Angel Rued Ceasar Bangayan, who participated but did not win a medal.

The purpose of the competition is to standardize all the teachings of the Presas Brothers globally. Remy Presas is the Father of Modern Arnis. (PR)
