Zamboanga City karate team harvest medals

THE team of Zamboanga City has harvested five gold, two silver and five bronze medals in the recently-held two-day Karate Champion National Open.

Dr. Cecile Atilano, City Sports Development officer, said the tournament initiated by the Philippine Karatedo Federation-National Sports Association (PKF-NSA) was held from July 27 to 28 in Quezon City.

Atilano said the medalists are: Lito Sumagayang, 9 years old boys category (kata gold, gold kumite); Zsanelle Nicqole Macapili, 9 years old girls category (Kata gold, kumite bronze); Haidegin Jallandoon, 12 and 13 years - girls category (kata bronze, kumite bronze); Romeo Calumpang, 12 and 13 years - boys category (kata gold, kumite silver); Khan Eraham (kata silver, kumite gold); and Junry Catubay, 12 and 13 years old - boys category (kata bronze, kumite bronze).
