30 gunmen kill farmer, injure village councilor in Samar

A FARMER was killed, while a village councilor was injured Monday afternoon, November 18, when 30 gunmen fired on them in Matuguinao, Samar.

The farmer, identified as Dennis Diaz, was hit on his right biceps, resulting in his instantaneous death.

His companion, Edwin Velarde, 37, a village councilor of Barangay Nagpapacao in Matuguinao town, was able to escape.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. Monday in Barangay Inubod in Matuguinao, said police.

Velarde said the unidentified gunmen were armed with long, high-powered firearms.
