AN OVERSEAS Filipino worker (OFW) from Eastern Samar who got the highly contagious Delta coronavirus variant has recovered from the disease, an official said.

“Of the 64 Delta variant cases detected by the Department of Health (DOH) in the country, one is from Eastern Samar, an OFW. Fortunately, he was already declared recovered after his quarantine in Luzon when he arrived to our province,” said Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

“But despite the fact that he was considered recovered already, when we learned that he was a Delta variant positive before, we still re-swabbed him. Again, fortunately, the result was negative,” he added.

BEvardone cautioned the public not to be complacent over the said development.

“We have to strictly follow the health protocols like wearing of face mask and face shield and avoid mass gathering,” he said.

The DOH earlier said that the Delta variant has already reached a local transmission level in the country.

“Clusters of Delta variant cases were seen to be linked to other local cases, therefore, exhibiting local transmission,” the health department said. (SunStar Philippines)
