Girl, 17, mauled by American for 'refusing sex'

POLICE arrested an American national for allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old female student who refused to have sex with him in Catbalogan City, Samar early Wednesday morning, October 2.

Authorities identified the suspect as Nader Haleem, 34, single, from North Carolina, United States of America but currently residing in Purok 3, Barangay Canlapwas, Catbalogan City.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect invited the victim to have a drinking spree in his apartment in Barangay Canlapwas.

After two hours, the victim asked for permission to leave the area, but the suspect prevented her from leaving and then mauled her.

"Further, the suspect threatened the victim that he will kill the latter and can't leave the place unless they will have a sexual intercourse," the police said in a report.

The victim sustained injuries on the different parts of her body and was brought to the City Health Office.

The Catbalogan City Police Office are now conducting a investigation on the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
