Man nabbed for illegal fishing in Samar

POLICE arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly engaging in illegal fishing activity locally known as "Palupad" off the seawaters of Barangay Hitaasan, San Sebastian, Samar Thursday, December 3, 2020.

The violator was identified as a resident of Sitio Mombon, Barangay Pangdan, Catbalogan City.

Confiscated from his control and possession were a motorized fishing boat, several fishing paraphernalia, fine mesh net and assorted fish with estimated worth of P26,400.

The seaborne patrol operation was conducted by personnel of San Sebastian Municipal Police Station led by Lieutenant Aldrin Lugnasin, officer in charge, and Bantay Dagat volunteers.

The fisherman will be facing charges for violation of sections 95 and 93 of the Republic Act 10654, which amends the Philippine Fisheries Code. (SunStar Philippines)
