Manhunt underway for 2 ‘gunmen’ in Calbayog

A MANHUNT is underway in Calbayog City, Samar for two suspected gunmen responsible for the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old farmer Monday afternoon, March 1, 2021.

Police identified the suspects as Edgardo Segala Branzuela, 19, and Armando Segala Branzuela, 28, both residents of Barangay Catabunan, Oquendo District, Calbayog.

Initial investigation disclosed that while the victim, Merlito Balero Segala, was on his way home from his farmland, he was shot by the suspects who used an unknown caliber of a firearm.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body, causing his instantaneous death, police said in the report.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive in the shooting. (SunStar Philippines)
