Maritime center executive in stable condition after stabbing attack in Tacloban

THE deputy executive director of National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) has been in good stable condition following a stabbing attack in Tacloban City Sunday, September 5, 2021, police said.

Mayla Macadawan, 41, sustained a stab wound at her left upper arm after an unidentified suspect attacked her with a knife while she was sleeping in her bedroom at the NMP staff house in Barangay 97-Cabalawan, Tacloban around 2 a.m. Sunday.

According to the police, the NMP official managed to scream aloud and struggled at knifepoint.

The suspect fled the scene after the assault.

The duty in-house security guards came to the rescue and gave her first aid before she was brought to the hospital.

Responding policemen found scattered things and bloodstains inside the victim’s bedroom, sofa, kitchen and hallway.

No personal belongings were lost at the scene, according to the police.
