Passengers remain safe after Samar-bound bus falls off Sorsogon cliff

ALL passengers were safe after their bus fell off a cliff while on its way to Matnog Ferry Terminal in Sorsogon Monday, December 30.

Authorities said the Eagle Star passenger bus with body number 8168 was traveling from Manila going to Sorsogon, when the road accident happened along the descending curve at Barangay Hidhid in Matnog town at around 9:50 a.m., Monday.

The driver was identified as Felix Calipes, 32, a resident of Purok 7, Oquendo Poblacion in Calbayog City, Samar.

Despite the accident, police said “no major casualty or injury” was reported.

The passengers were immediately brought to the nearest hospital for immediate medical attention while the driver was brought to Matnog Municipal Police Station for proper documentation.

Police are coordinating to other nearby municipalities for possible rescue operation. (SunStar Philippines)
