Probe over highway robbery in Samar continues

POLICE continue to investigate the alleged highway robbery of a 10-wheeler truck carrying about P2-million worth of products in Jiabong, Samar last week.

Police said the incident happened along Maharlika highway in Barangay Jia-an around 11 p.m. on June 22, 2019.

The victims were Christian Jed Villacarlos, driver, and John John Delos Reyes, helper.

In an initial investigation, the victims disclosed that while they were traversing the highway a black color Isuzu pick-up D-Max without plate number, overtook and blocked their vehicle prompting them to stop.

Three unidentified suspects carrying short firearms alighted from the pick-up and at gun point, instructed them to alight from their 10-wheeler truck Isuzu Giga wing van with temporary plate number 030104.

Afterwards, two suspects boarded the truck and drove towards the direction of Tacloban City followed by the Isuzu pick-up.

According to the police, the victims had to walk towards the direction of Catbalogan City to seek assistance.
